Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ended their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season with a strong 110-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and skipper Pat Cummins said the team had the calibre to produce a better effort but it just didn’t work out.
Known for their ultra-aggressive approach, SRH began the season with a bang, posting 286 against Rajasthan Royals in their opening game, and capped it off with the third-highest total of the season- with a strong score of 278 runs.
However, inconsistencies in the middle phase saw them fall out of playoff contention. On that case, Pat Cummins stated that they had an amazing finish as lot of things went right at the correct time. He also stated how they have the team that can qualify for the finals , but it just did not work out this year.
“Amazing finish. Lot of things clicked in the last few games. Amazing batting. We have the calibre, but we couldn’t play any worse in some parts. Have the team to make the finals most times. It just didn’t work out this year,” Cummins said during the post-match presentation.
“We’re gonna get wickets like this where we can max out, but others where we need to graft to 170 which we didn’t get right. Feel like quite a few guys got opportunities. Really happy with the squad despite some injuries and players going out. Feels like we used 20 players,” he added.
Speaking about the match, Heinrich Klaasen smashed a sensational hundred as Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their IPL campaign with a 110-run thrashing of Kolkata Knight Riders in their final IPL match here on Sunday.
Opting to bat, Klaasen smashed 105 not out off 39 balls, while Travis Head made 76 off 40 balls and opener Abhishek Sharma hit a 16-ball 32 as SRH posted a challenging 278 for 3.
