PHOTOS: Team India’s official new jersey unveiled

From Wills to ITC to Sahara, those who had followed Team India in the 1990s and 2000s have followed the kit transition for the star-studded Team India. After Sahara’s long association with The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) got over, Star India were new sponsors. The broadcast giants were the kit sponsors for Team India for over three years till Oppo were named sponsor of the national team earlier this year. Star India had not bid for the jersey rights and Oppo won the bid. So when you see Team India walk out in the park for the Champions Trophy, they will be donning a new kit. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and Oppo India President Sky Li unveiled the new kit of the Indian cricket team at Mumbai’s JW Marriot hotel.

 

Oppo, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, who are more famous for their smart phones, paid INR 1,079 crores for a deal for a period of five years. They will be shelling out INR 1.56 crores for every game featuring in an ICC tournament, and INR 4.61 crores per bilateral game involving the Indian team. Star India earlier paid INR 1.92 crores per bilateral match and INR 61 lakhs for an ICC match.
