In response to recent media reports surrounding the participation of Yusuf Pathan in the DTC Hong Kong T20 Blitz, Kowloon Cantons and Cricket Hong Kong would like to issue the following statement. Cricket Hong Kong and Kowloon Cantons can confirm that the NOC, which was issued for Yusuf Pathan to play in the DTC Hong Kong T20 Blitz has been revoked. Both CHK and the Cantons accept and respect the decision of the BCCI. Cricket Hong Kong CEO Tim Cutler said, “We respect the BCCI’s right to revoke the NOC for Yusuf Pathan as any other member has in regards to overseas players. Obviously it would have been fantastic to have Yusuf here playing in the tournament for cricket fans in Hong Kong.”

“However, there will still be 25 world class overseas cricketers playing in this event, which we believe will be a landmark event for Associate cricket.” Kowloon Cantons CEO Urvashi Sethi, echoed CHK’s sentiments in a statement on behalf of the team, “We were greatly anticipating having Yusuf Pathan come to play in the tournament, however circumstances have now changed. We have to respect the decision of the BCCI and move forward with our preparation for the tournament in three weeks’ time.”

“It’s a loss of opportunity for every Hong Kong player to not have Yusuf Pathan, however our team is balanced with other international players such as Shahid Afridi and Tymal Mills. We are in discussion with Coach Craig Wright over our replacement and will announce a name shortly”.
