Having successfully hosted the final of the immensely popular Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in 2017, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now mulling to host the final of the 2018 at the National Stadium in Karachi. During the PSL Player’s Draft at Lahore, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi confirmed that a commitment had been made for thew final to be held in Karachi, and preparations are being done to make it a successful one. It would also be the second year in a row that the PSL final would be held in the country. Lahore has successfully hosted a few international matches in 2017 amidst tight security. It has also been reported that the PCB would be allotting PKR 1.5 billion for the work as well as all the security arrangements required for a successful hosting of the final. The National Stadium in Karachi is already undergoing a renovation and the work is expected to be completed within a year, as reported by Dawn. “We have made a commitment to try our best to have it in Karachi. As we speak, the National Logistics Cell [a government body involved in the renovation] is working overtime. I talked to the [official] in charge and he has promised me that he will get Karachi stadium ready to host the final in March,” said Sethi during the Player’s Draft.
“We are determined and eager to complete the task of the first phase within the allocated time,” said NLC Engineering project manager Mohammad Sohaib.
