Ranji Trophy 2014-15: Andhra post commanding 408/1 on Day 1 against Goa

Srikar Bharat hit an unbeaten double-century to steer Andhra to a mammoth 408 for one.

Ongole (Andhra Pradesh): Srikar Bharat hit an unbeaten double-century, while Murumulla Sriram scored 108 not out to steer Andhra to a mammoth 408 for one on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Group C tie against Goa.

Bharat shone with his unbeaten 226 that came off just 240 deliveries, studded with 29 fours and five sixes, while Sriram took 189 balls for his knock that included 15 boundaries and a six. Bharat and Sriram put on an unbroken 244 runs for the second wicket as the hosts took control of the match by the end of day one.

Earlier, put in to bat, Andhra opener DB Prasanth also chipped in with crucial 63 (113b, 12X4) and along with his opening partner Bharat shared an important 164-run stand to lay a solid platform for the team. AS Desai (1/40) was the lone wicket taker for Goa today.
