Hyderabad: Skipper Hanuma Vihari struck a career-best 263 to give Hyderabad the all-important first innings lead in their Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match against Himachal Pradesh that ended in a tame draw, here today.
Replying to Himachal’s 511, Hyderabad rode on Vihari double ton to finish on 524 for five in 181 overs when stumps were drawn on the fourth and final day of the match.
Resuming at the overnight score of 297 for one, still trailing Himachal by 214 runs, Hyderabad witnessed a mini collapse as they lost three quick wickets.
Overnight centurion Tanmay Agarwal failed to add to his last night’s score of 105, while Jaggulal Anshul (4) and Himalay Agarwal (10) fell cheaply.
But in Bavanaka Sandeep (70 not out), Vihari found an able partner and the duo halted Hyderabad’s slide with a 175-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Vihari was the last Hyderabad wicket to fall at the score of 508. He score his 263 off 419 balls with the help of 31 boundaries and two sixes. A Asish Reddy (10) was at the crease along side Sandeep when both the teams decided to end the proceedings.
Vikramjeet Malik scalped two wickets for 58 runs for Himachal. By virtue of the first innings lead, Hyderabad secured three points while Himachal had to be contend with just one point.
