Mumbai have finished at 244 for the loss of five wickets against Railways in the Round 5 of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 which is being played at the SDNRW Ground, Mysore. Winning the toss Mumbai decided to bat first but had a disappointing start as their opener Kaustubh Pawar fell cheaply. By the time Mumbai had lost their first wicket they only had 17 runs on the board. But another opener Akhil Herwadkar and Shreyas Iyer who had walked in at No. 3 together went on to score 113 runs partnership for the second wicket. Iyer was dismissed by Karan Thakur for 70 runs from just 73 deliveries which were laced with 10 boundaries and one cracking six. Suryakumar Yadav who walked in at No. 4 is unbeaten on 60 runs from 162 balls. He along with Herwadkar went on to put a 77 runs stand for the third wicket. Herwadkar had to miss out on his century by just 4 runs as he was dismissed by Karn Sharma for 96. Herwadkar’s patient knock consisted of 15 boundaries and one six.
Aditya Tare and Siddhesh Lad departed cheaply as they scored 4 and 5 runs respectively. By the time of Stumps on Day One, Yadav has Abhishek Nayar who is batting on 1 runs of 34 balls. Sharma has been the successful bowler for Railways as he has finished Day One with the figures of 3 for 56. Thakur and Amit Mishra have taken one wicket each so far.
