Ashok Dinda’s five for helped Bengal win the Round 4, Ranji Trophy 2016-17 clash against Railways by 43 on the last day of the match. Railways were set a target of 315 runs after Manoj Tiwary and Wriddiman Saha scored 48 and 44 respectively in the second innings by Bengal as they accumulated 214 runs. Following the target of 315, Shivakant Shukla remained the top scorer for Railways with 83 runs off 186 balls. Initially, Railways had won the toss and had opted to bat first. Ashoke Dinda remained the star with the ball for Bengal, picking up 5 wickets. Newbie Amit Kuila bowled an economical spell taking 2 wickets while Sayan Ghosh bagged 3 wickets. Batting in their second innings, Bengal did a decent job. Openers Abhimanyu Eswaran and Sayan Shekhar Mandal provided the team with a decent start while it was actually the middle-order added the biggest contribution. Skipper Manoj Tiwari was the highest scorer of the innings with his 48-run innings. Wriddhiman Saha was the other batsman who contributed majorly with his 44-run innings to take Bengal’s score to 208 for 9 wickets and handed them a lead of 308 runs. Deepak Bansal and Karan Thakur were the highest wicket-takers for Railways with 3 wickets each. Amit Mishra bagged 2 wickets while Anureet Singh got just one.
