The Group A match of Ranji Trophy 2016-17 between Punjab and Railways at Palam A Ground Model Sports Complex, Delhi ends in draw. Despite draw, Railways got three points on the basis of first innings lead over Punjab. Bowling first, Punjab restricted Railways to 331 with Shivakant Shukla scoring 128 runs with the help of 12 fours and two sixes. Ashish Yadav also contributed with his 81-run knock. Bowler Siddarth Kaul of Punjab scalped five wickets for his team in the first innings. Unlike Railways, Punjab had a miserable outing with bat as they were bowl out for 215. Gurkeerat Singh and Umang Kaul both made half-century from Punjab. In the second innings, Railways had the lead of 116 runs and got excellent start from their openers. Saurabh Wakaskar played handy 57-run knock while Shivakant fell three-run short of his century. Further, Mahesh Rawat scored 48 runs and in the end, Railways declared the innings after scoring 245 and setting the target of 362 for Punjab. Yuvraj Singh-led Punjab once again had a poor start but Umag’s unbeaten 61-run knock gave stability to their batting along with Mandeep Singh’s 41 not out. Day four of this match ended in draw as there was not much time left for both the teams to produce any result as it ends in draw.
