In the Round 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 clash between Maharashtra and Delhi, Delhi;s Rishab Pant smashed a scintillating 308 from 326 which consisted 42 boundaries and 9 huge sixes. It was this innings that took the game away from Maharashtra towards a fair enough draw. Dhruv Shorey also played a crucial knock of 71 which got Delhi to 590 in First innings. Maharashtra had a lead of 45 as they went into bat in the second innings. But as the game only had 4 days of play, Maharashtra scored 58 for no loss in 15 overs before the match was called off as a draw. Earlier, Delhi reached 376 for 5 in their reply to a mammoth total posted by Maharashtra at stumps on Day Three of their ongoing Ranji Trophy 2016-17 match, which is being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The pitch at the venue where even the Indian national team has been at the receiving end more often than not has been a belter as the batsmen from both the teams have made merry. It began with Maharashtra producing an unbelievable display of batting, with their captain Swapnil Gugale and Ankit Bawne coming agonisingly close to world record stand for any wicket in First-Class cricket, which belongs to the Sri Lankan duo of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara.
