India’s premier domestic tournament has finally reached to the business end with the knockouts of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 season commencing on Friday. All four quarter-finals of the ongoing season went underway on Friday with title holders Mumbai locking horns with Hyderabad at Raipur, Gujarat taking on Odisha at Jaipur, domestic heavyweights Karnataka clashing with neighbours Tamil Nadu at Visakhapatnam and Jharkhand facing Haryana at Vadodara. The live cricket streaming of the second day of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 quarter-finals will be available on Hotstar, while the live cricket telecast of the match will be available on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports HD1.
All four matches went underway on Friday. In Raipur, Mumbai recovered after reeling on 34 for 4 at one stage. Thanks to the trio of Aditya Tare, Siddhesh Lad and Abhishek Nayar, Mumbai staged a comeback to post 250 for 5 at stumps on Day One. In Visakhapatnam, presence of Team India stars KL Rahul, Karun Nair and Manish Pandey could not be of any use for Karnataka as the team got bundled out for a paltry 88 against Tamil Nadu. Aswin Crist (6 for 31) was the destroyer-in-chief. In reply, Tamil Nadu ended day on 111 for 4, thus gaining a 23-run lead.
In Vadodara, Haryana’s lower-order stepped up to take the team total at 251 for 7 at stumps on Day One, after being 71 for 3 at one stage. It was pretty much a same story at Jaipur, where after being 71 for 6 at one stage, Gujarat’s tail wagged to take the side to 197 for 6 at stumps. Chirag Gandhi and Rush Kalaria scored vital unbeaten fifties. There was a minor pause in the game after the pitch behaving abnormally in the beginning, reminding fans of the infamous Indore ODI between India and Sri Lanka in 1997.
Day Two of all the four games is going to be fascinating. Check out the live streaming on aforementioned links and enjoy the games.
