Punjab have held on to their nerves and came out fighting in the Round 7 encounter of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 against Tamil Nadu as they 51 runs lead with eight wickets intact. They are in a delicate situation at the moment and will have ti pull up and pile more runs to their existing score. They ended Day 2 at 121 for the loss of two wickets with Uday Kaul and Mandeep Singh unbeaten at the crease at 43 and 35 respectively. Mandeep got a golden duck in the first innings and has done well to make his chances count in the second innings. This partnership is crucial for Punjab as Mandeep has a knack of playing those long innings while Uday Kaul has been in god form.
Krishnamoorthy Vignesh did well to have a wicket to his name Aswn Crist also had one. Tamil Nadu will be eyeing to chip early wickets on Day and put pressure on Punjab. Tamil Nadu bowled well in the first innings and bwled out Punjab for 284 as Vignesh and Crist picked seven wickets between them. Mana Vohra top-scored with 73 runs to his name. Tamil Nadu managed to get a healthy lead as they put up 354 runs on the board. Siddarth Kaul, Manpreet Gony also accounted for seven wickets between them. Kaushik Gandhi played a magnificent knock of 164 and helped his side take a lead.
