Following an eventful play on the first two days in Ranji Trophy 2017-18 quarter-finals, the third day’s play is expected to be of same magnitude. The live cricket streaming of the match between Mumbai and Karnataka will be available on Hotstar, while the live telecast of the match will be available on Star Sports First. Mumbai are on the mat with Karnataka leading by 222 runs. Will Mumbai restrict their lead to less than 300?

How the match has panned out so far

Electing to bowl, Karnataka’s skipper Vinay Kumar ripped apart Mumbai’s top order in no time. He became the fourth bowler in Ranji Trophy to claim a hat-trick twice. That put Karnataka on top, and since then it has been a one-way traffic in their favour. Riding on fifties from Mayank Agarwal, Kaunain Abbas, Chidambaram Gautam and Shreyas Gopal (80 not out), Karnataka have kept Mumbai at bay. Mumbai had their moments in the early phase of Day Two but were outplayed by Karnataka’s batting depth and stubborn approach.

The tough times

It is anticipated that Mumbai are on the verge of elimination. Despite having rusty starts, they managed to enter the knockouts courtesy two victories against average sides Odisha and Tripura. On the other hand, Karnataka have grown significantly.

Karnataka’s ploy will be to add more miseries to Mumbai’s camp. By virtue of a big lead, they will look for an innings victory.

Other encounters

In the other games, Bengal have a firm grip over Gujarat. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh posted 338 against Delhi, but the latter are comfortably placed at 180 for 2. In Kerala-versus-Vidarbha contest, Vidarbha stretched their innings to post 246 and have Kerala reeling at 32 for 2.
