Searching for their first win of the season, Delhi opted to field on Saturday at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium with the start delayed after BCCI curator overwatered the pitch. That led to a delay of two and a half hours. Openers Anand Bais and Aryaman Birla began on a solid footing, adding 59 runs between them before the floodgates openend.

Left-arm spinner Vikas triggered a slide from which the visitors failed to recover. He landed the first blow removing Birla on 24 before fellow spinner Shivam Sharma got rid of the other opener Bais (35).

Mishra then ran through MP middle-order, removing Rajat Patidar (14) and Shubham Sharma (0) in his consecutive overs. Captain Naman Ojha resisted but became his fourth victim when he was adjuged lbw on 11 off 51. With the scalp of Yash Dubey (16), Vikas completed his five-wicket haul before adding one more to his kitty to finish with six wickets during the day’s play. Shivam chipped in with 3/48.

Only 51 overs of play was possible on the opening day.
