Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite C, Round 3, Day 2: Rajesh Solanki keeps Odisha in charge over Assam

Hosts Assam remain on the back foot against Odisha in their Group C match of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy in Guwahati, trailing by 59 runs at the end of day two.

Fifties to Anurag Sarangi (77) and skipper Biplab Samantray (61) steered Odisha from 86/3 toward 240 for a lead of 119 even as Ranjeet Mali claimed 6/80, and by stumps Assam were 60/4 with Rajesh Mohanty having taken his match tally to nine wickets.

Samantray’s 61 from 189 balls carried Odisha through a collapse from 204/5 to 228/9 as Mali ran into the lower order. Mohanty, who took five wickets on day one to keep Assam to 121, added a sixth when he bowled Parviz Aziz for 7 early in their second innings and then came back to get Kunal Saikia and Riyan Parag for ducks.
