Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite C, Round 3, Day 2: Tanveer-ul-Haq, Robin Bist lift Rajasthan into lead

Valuable contributions from Tanveer-ul-Haq and Robin Bist have pulled Rajasthan  into a position from where they can push for a third consecutive victory in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy over hosts Jharkhand in conditions suited for seam bowling.

After being bowled out for 100 on day one, Rajasthan rallied through Tanveer’s six wickets to keep hosts Jharkhand to 152 in their Elite Group C round three match in Ranchi. By stumps, they led by 75 runs after Robin’s 45 helped smooth over the loss of two wickets in one over.

Former Rajasthan captain Ashok Menaria added 66 in 34.5 overs with Robin and was 25 not out off 120 balls at stumps on Wednesday.

Five down at stumps on day one, Jharkhand were hauled into the lead largely due to Ishank Jaggi’s 79 from 131 balls, which featured 10 fours. Jaggi added a further 60 runs to the total with the lower order before he was dismissed by Rahul Chahar amid a collapse of three wickets for one run.Tanveer added three wickets to finish with 6/42 while Chetan Bist held six catches behind the stumps.
