Ranji Trophy: Ashutosh Aman, debutant Mangal Mehrur lead Bihar to big lead

A much-improved second innings from Bihar erased Nagaland s lead of 59 and by stumps had put the home team ahead by 196 runs on day two of their seventh round Ranji Trophy 2018-19 Plate Group game in Patna.

Fresh off a 14-wicket haul in the last game against Meghalaya, Ashutosh Aman claimed 7/47 to help bowl Nagaland out for 209, after which Mangal Mehrur (129*) and MD Rahmatullah (55*) put on 100 in 20.4 overs to get Bihar to 255/3.

On debut, Mehrur faced 171 balls and hit 18 fours and a six. Rahmatullah sped to 55 off 56 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. The pair was joined at 92/1 in the 20th over after Bihar captain Babul Kumar was out lbw for 39 off 53 balls.

Aman s seven wickets pulled things back from Nagaland, for whom only skipper Rongsen Jonathan managed a fifty, scoring 53 from 124 balls.
