Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Round 8, Elite B, Day 4: Abhimanyu Easwaran’s unbeaten 183 leads Bengal to 7-wicket win over Delhi

Opener Abhimanyu Easwaran’s scintillating 183 not out in just 211 deliveries helped Bengal chase down Delhi’s 322-run target to lead them to a thrilling seven-wicket win on the last day of their Ranji Trophy 2018-19 Round 8 Elite B match on Wednesday.

Registering their second win, Bengal have moved up to third place with 22 points from seven games, while Delhi’s hopes for qualification are virtually over with just 13 points in seven games at seventh place.

Resuming their innings at 18/0 with another 304 needed to win, Bengal were helped to a brilliant 121-run partnership between Easwaran and Abhishek Kumar Raman, who scored 52.

After the departure of Raman to Delhi captain Nitish Rana, Kulwant Khejroliya snapped quick wickets of Sudip Chatterjee (2) and Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary (5).

Easwaran was then involved in an unbroken 186-run stand with Anustup Majumdar (69 not out) that led Bengal to the finish line in just 70.2 overs.

Easwaran, who registered his ninth first-class century, clobbered 23 boundaries and two sixes at the Eden Gardens.
