Narender Singh’s maiden fifty helped Services to 183/4, ahead by six runs on day two of their Ranji Trophy 2018-19 Round 8 Elite C match against Odisha on Monday.

Resuming from their overnight score of 2/0, still adrift by 175 runs, Services were off to a good start with openers Singh and Ravi Chauhan conjuring 87 runs. However, Chahan fell two runs short of his fifty after he was dismissed by Anurag Sarangi. Mohit Ahlawat fell for 25 off 43 to Abhishek Raut.

But Singh continued and reached his maiden fifty in his second match. His slow-paced 64 off 191 which was brought to an end by Raut, was laced with eight boundaries.

Services captain Rajat Paliwal (22 not out) had Vikas Hathwala for company (9 not out) when stumps were drawn.
