Uttar Pradesh bagged three points to finish second in Group C behind Rajasthan and qualify for the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 quarter-finals after their Round 9 Elite C match against Assam ended in a tame draw. Assam, who pocketed three wins this season, end their campaign at sixth spot with 21 points just below Haryana.

Assam, who were bundled out for 175 in the first dig, posted 317/4 in the second essay when stumps were drawn on the final day.

Resuming their innings at 102 for no loss, Assam lost openers, Rishav Das and Rahul Hazarika early in the early. Das was the first to depart to Yash Dayal for 37. Hazarika, who brought up his second first-class half-century, was trapped lbw by Imtiaz Ahmed, and walked back after scoring 63 off 93, his innings studded with 11 boundaries. Sarupam Purkayastha and Gokul Sharma then steadied the innings as the duo combined to add 112 runs for the third wicket. Purkyastha was cleaned up by Ahmed after scoring 67 off 125 ball which included 12 boundaries. Sharma meanwhile, reached his sixth first-class century and remained unbeaten on 100 at stumps. Assam captain Amit Sinha was the last wicket to fall at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Sinha failed to trouble the scorers after he was dismissed by Saurabh Kumar. Pallav Kumar Das was giving company to Sharma with an unbeaten 40 at close of play.
