Ravichandran Ashwin who has played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in all the seasons so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is looking forward to be playing for a new franchise for the very first time after CSK’s suspension from the T20 league for two years. Rajasthan Royals have also been suspended for the same period of time and to replace these sides two new franchises have been included for the coming two editions—Pune and Rajkot. Ashwin who has been an asset for CSK tweeted, “In three days time, Pune or Rajkot will be my new summer destination. I’m looking forward to a new beginning and more challenges.” He also added, “If I don’t make it to both of these teams,I will go into the auction. Does not matter who picks me,all I need is new challenges. No stagnating”. READ: IPL 2016: How will the CSK, RR players be divided between the two new franchises?
The new franchises can pick five players each from CSK and RR. The 10 players will be picked through a draft system from a pool of 50, with the remaining names going under the hammer. The original retention rule of picking a maximum of four Indian capped players will be applicable for the new franchise as well. The drafting process for the 10 players will happen on December 15 with Pune getting to pick their players first because they had bid for the lowest amount in the reverse bidding process.
