India’s opening pair, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan bring up the opening 50-run stand at the end of mandatory powerplay, against minnows, Bangladesh, in the 2nd quarter-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Thursday. Rohit contributed 24 while Dhawan contributed 21 with five extras in the 50-run stand. Currently, India are 51 for no loss in 10 overs with openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan batting on 24 and 22, respectively.
Earlier, Indian skipper, MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first on a healthy batting track at Melbourne. India are moving in with an unchanged squad, whereas Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza makes a change in the form of Taijul Islam who is replaced by the skipper, himself.
India have had a fantastic time in Group B, having won all their six games, making their way to the quarters by topping the group. On the other hand,Bangladesh got past England and a few other victories helped them qualify for their first ever knockouts in the World Cup. The winner will face either co-hosts Australia or Pakistan in the semi-finals on March 26 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), reports AFP.
