The rising youngster of Rajasthan Royals was unable to continue his impressive form against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League, as he got out for a 2-ball duck on Thursday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Vaibhav stepped onto the field with high expectations, having become the youngest batsman to score a century in his previous match against Gujarat Titans. However, the clash against MI turned out differently, as he failed to even open his account.
As MI secured a massive 100-run victory over RR, Rohit Sharma’s heartwarming gesture captured the attention of fans on social media. The defeat also marked RR’s disqualification from the playoff race.
After the match, former MI skipper Rohit walked up to Vaibhav and shared a few words of motivation and encouragement with the youngster, who was visibly dejected after his performance.
“He will learn. Encouraging words from Rohit Sharma there, as well,” former India head coach Ravi Shastri said on air as this gesture won a lot of hearts.
Ryan Rickelton, who opened with Rohit Sharma recieved the Player of the Match award after his brilliant knock of 63 off 38 deliveries against Rajasthan Royals.
“The family is there, they have come up this week, and it is special to put in a performance in front of them. Always happy to contribute to the Mumbai Indians. Such a good group and we are finding the momentum at the right time,” Rickelton said after the match.
