Rohit Sharma registered his third double-century during the second ODI against Sri Lanka. Rohit reached his first 100 in 115 balls and scored the remaining 108 runs in 43 deliveries hitting 12 sixes.
In an interview with ANI, his mother Purnima Sharma expressed her happiness.
“We are extremely happy and proud that he had hit a double ton. We were so surprised that first he had hit a hundred then he reached the 150 score and then so quickly he had reached the 200 mark while slamming fours and sixes,” she said.
Rohit Sharma had struggled in his first ODI as a captain, getting out for 2 in 13 balls. But the Mohali track was tailormade for him. As he reached the milestone, he kissed the ring finger and dedicated the knock to his wife.
“It is his marriage anniversary today, so our happiness has doubled,” she said
Rohit’s 208* set many batting records. He became the only batsman to score three double-hundreds, second captain to score to attain the record after with Virender Sehwag. He also went past Sehwag’s record of 14 centuries.
