Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) demolished the Delhi Daredevils in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 encounter at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Put in to bat, DD were shot out for a meagre 95. In response, Chris Gayle looked in a hurry and smashed his way around the ground to take RCB to a comprehensive 10-wicket victory. RCB have recovered well with two consecutive victories and that holds them in good stead moving ahead.

The great thing about RCB’s victory was the way they bowled. Mitchell Starc has come in and changed the look of the side. With him in great form, RCB have a potent weapon upfront. To add to that, Varun Aaron was brought into the side in place of the injured Yuzvendra Chahal and delivered with a hostile spell. DD were in trouble from the first over when Shreyas Iyer was given out leg-before when the ball was going down the leg-side.  IPL 2015 schedule: IPL 8 match time table with venue details

The game turned in RCB’s favour when Aaron dismissed Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews off consecutive deliveries. Yuvraj poked at one outside the off and Mathews fended one that climbed on him. Those deliveries showed the hostility with which Aaron could bowl. DD were never in the game thereafter. Kedar Jadhav stood through the ruins and scored a fighting 33, but the RCB pacers continued to dent them. Wiese picked up two wickets in the middle and Starc returned to finish the job. Gayle looked in the mood to sizzle early on. In the second over, Dominic Joseph was given a taste of his fury when he smashed him down the ground for a six followed by a couple of boundaries. Virat Kohli was a mere spectator and only worked the strike around to watch the Gayle-show. With the low score and the opportunities coming his way, Gayle kept smashing and went on to get his fifty in 29 balls. Gayle entertained the crowd with his blazing knock and has heightened hopes for bigger scores in the near future. The match was done with more than nine overs to spare.

RCB will get a lot of confidence from this victory. In the last game, they beat Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets. For them to get two convincing victories back-to-back, is a remarkable thing considering the way they played before those wins.

Brief scores:

Delhi Daredevils 95 for 18.2 overs (Mayank Agarwal 27, Kedar Jadhav 33; Mitchell Starc 3 for 20, Varun Aaron 2 for 24, David Wiese 2 for 18) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore 99 in 10.3 overs (Chris Gayle 62*, Virat Kohli 35*) by 10 wickets.
