Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s joyous occasion of winning their maiden IPL trophy in the 18th season turned into a tragedy as 11 people lost their lives in a stampede near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and other team members were felicitated at the Vidhana Soudha by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah around 5 PM IST, after which an open bus parade was scheduled.

A massive crowd gathered around the victory parade area, leading to chaos. As a result, 11 people lost their lives and around 47 others were critically injured.

Now, a social media post by RCB has gone viral, and the team and management are facing online backlash, as the announcement of the victory parade came despite the deadly stampede near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives and left at least 47 injured.

Following the tragic incident, the franchise not only announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased but also launched an RCB Cares fund to support the medical treatment of those injured in the stampede.

“The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident.

“Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief,” the post read.

Meanwhile, the RCB management is likely to come under official investigation for a social media post announcing a public victory parade, which was shared just hours before a tragic stampede at M Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed at least 11 lives and injured 47 others.

The investigation will also cover senior officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), as their involvement in organizing the felicitation ceremony is now being examined by Bengaluru Police and a magisterial inquiry panel.
