Former Indian cricketer and legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday asked his first-ever question at the Rajya Sabha in the Parliament house at New Delhi. It has been more than three-years when Sachin was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Rajya Sabha, and Sunday was his first ever active appearence in the Sabha. It was on 2012, when Sachin was elected as the MP and was included in the committee for Information Technology on September 1. Being his first active appearnce, it came through a written question to the Ministry of Railways, who also wrote him back in the form of Ministry of Railways minister Manoj Sinha, reports ABP News. He also wrote a question to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways citing few reasons for changes in provision while issuing a driving license, to which the Ministry os scheduled to reply on Monday. On Friday, he had also raised the issue of declaring the suburban railway services as a seperate department. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and others in one rare picture

“Will the Minister of Railways be pleased to state the rationale behind creating a new zone for Kolkata Metro and whether it can be replicated in other cities such as Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi that also have similar suburban rail services; the criteria that a suburban railway system must fulfil to enable it to be notified as a separate zone; and whether the above three cities fulfil that criteria and are eligible for being notified as separate zones?” Tendulkar wrote in the query. Sachin Tendulkar blamed Greg Chappell of causing regress to Indian cricket

The Ministry of Railways also replied to Sachin’s query stating that the Kolkata Metro service is also an independent body under Indian Railways that only deals with Metro Railways. “After taking this into consideration along with operational, administrative and other factors, the zonal railway status was granted to Metro Railway, Kolkata to, inter-alia, help this organization in its operations and in further expansion. In the Indian Railway system operational in other cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, the suburban railway traffic is run along with the mainline traffic”, stated the reply.

Although Sachin is a MP and was nominated as such by the President of India, he does not have any direct relation with any political pary and has also been criticised often for his low parliamentary affairs involvement.
