Former cricketer Marcus Trescothick, who is considered as one of the finest opening batsmen for England, recently joined the league of players to name their All-Time XI. Trescothick represented English side in 123 ODIs and 76 Tests in which he amassed 4,335 runs at 37.37 and 5,825 runs at 43.79 respectively. Trescothick recently revealed his XI in a series initiated by Lord’s Cricket Ground’s official YouTube channel. The criteria of selecting the All-Time XI for any cricketer is that players should have played with or against that particular individual or should have influenced him. Like every other cricketers All-Time XI, Trescothick’s team too is filled with some great cricketers of the game.
His XI starts with England’s current Test captain Alastair Cook and former South African skipper Graeme Smith as openers followed by Ricky Ponting as the leader of his team. The middle order of his team consists of great batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara with all rounder Jacques Kallis and wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist to follow, making the batting pretty lethal. Coming to the bowling department, it consists of greatest leg-spinner of all time — Shane Warne with sultan of swing Wasim Akram, James Anderson and Glenn McGrath completing the pace trio. Just like team’s batting, these four bowlers surely make Trescothick’s XI’s bowling look potent.
It has been 10 years since Trescothick’s retirement from international cricket but he has been continuously playing domestic cricket across the formats in England and is considered to be one of the legendary players in English county.
