Indian cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar send out his best wiches to retired Australian skipper, Michael Clarke on his illustrious and brilliant cricketing career over the years, as he played his last maych and ended up on a winning not as a skipper during the fifth Ashes 2015 Test at The Oval on Sunday. Clarke, who made his debut against India in Bangalore in 2004 has been an integral part of Australian squad ever since, winning World Cups and being world no. one in Test cricket along with Australia. Clarke’s teammates though had kind words to say about him. Among those who paid tribute include the incumbent coach Darren Lehmann and captain-to-be Steven Smith. Darren Lehmann, the Australia coach said, “he’s been a great player for Australia for many years. He obviously had a lot of highs and the last couple of years as coach, he’s been a joy to work with. The results we’ve had (including) the Ashes at home and the World Cup at home. Winning those were outstanding achievements. POLL: Kumar Sangakkara, Michael Clarke or Chris Rogers — Whom will you miss the most?
Those fortunate enough to witness Clarke’s debut Test innings lay emphasis on using one word: he soared. It was nothing short of the joyous yet calculated flight of a bird: it could well have been a page from Jonathan Livingston Seagull. He later went on to score a hundred on his first Test at home as well. Triple-centurions are rare to come by; not only did Clarke add three double-hundreds to his unbeaten 329 in his magic year of 2012, but also he scored 1,595 runs at 106.33. Michael Clarke’s teammates pay him rich tribute
