Former Indian cricketer and current Delhi Daredevils (DD) captain Zaheer Khan announced his engagement with actress Sagarika Ghatge on Monday. The couple have always stayed mum about their relationship in the past and hence left everyone, including Sagarika herself, surprised when they got engaged. Sagarika says the couple went to Goa during the break between the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 matches, where Zaheer proposed. Zaheer is currently leading DD in the IPL 2017, where his team is placed in the seventh position with just four points from six games. “It [the engagement] was a surprise for me too as it came right in the middle of the IPL season. We wanted to get away from the city as we had two days off in between matches. So he flew me to Goa for a day and that’s how the engagement happened,” beams the delighted fiancée, according to Mumbai Mirror. “Let the Indian Premier League get over first, then, we will decide on a date. Right now we don’t want to get stressed because Zaheer is focussed on the matches,” when asked about the wedding date. Zaheer had earlier taken to social media to make the news official. In his post, he wrote, “Never laugh at your wife’s choices. You are one of them !!! Partners for life. #engaged @sagarikavghatge”
