Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Sanjay Patel revealed that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had expressed interest in a bilateral series against India after West Indies pulled out of the scheduled tour of India after playing four One-Day Internationals (ODI).
According to Patel, the BCCI had already agreed to a series with Sri Lanka by the time they got a final word from the ECB. “The English Cricket Board (ECB) was also willing to help us by sending their team. But by the time we got their reply, we had already committed to play with Sri Lanka,” Patel was quoted as saying to Mid-Day.

Patel also slammed the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for the pull-out that saw the cancellation of an ODI, a T20I and three Tests and replaced instead with a five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in November.
“This is a completely unprofessional attitude. We will send a legal notice to them and also take it up with the ICC. We were lucky that our good old friends Sri Lanka agreed to play a series (five ODIs from November 1-15) at such a short notice,” Patel added.
