Former Indian batting star Virender Sehwag has shared his analysis of the delivery that led Ayush Mhatre to leave the field during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Ayush Mhatre played an impressive knock during their run chase at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. His outing of 94 runs was most important in keeping CSK in the match, which was further backed by Ravindra Jadeja, as both the players stitched up a strong 114-run partnership.

Virender Sehwag is a highly experienced person and is great in his analysis, and has shared his opinion that the ball was going in a way which suggested that it would go for a six. However, he believes that Mhatre had not made the shot in order to complete his century. Instead, he believes that the shot was attempted in order to get the total score of the team going up.

He played according to the ball that was bowled to him. He missed his shot, otherwise, in fact, it was a ball that should have been ideally struck for a six. Had the cutter found the middle of the bat, then it would have been a six for sure,” Sehwag said while speaking on Cricbuzz.

Agar voh apna sau ke baare mei soch rahe hote toh definitely woh shot to nahi khelte (If he was thinking about his hundred, he would have not played that shot). So, that means that it was clear that he wanted to get a boundary early in the over, which is why he attempted the shot,” Sehwag further stated.
