Shakib Al Hasan becomes the 10th player in the world and the first Bangladesh players to pick up 50 wickets in T20 internationals (T20I). Shakib played the four-match series against Zimbabwe at home, which finished 2-2. Bangladesh had won the first two matches, but Zimbabwe clawed their way back to level the series. This was the longest T20I series played in Bangladesh and a perfect practice for both teams ahead of the ICC World T20 2016, which kick starts in less than two months in India. Shakib recently became the sixth player to complete the 8,000-run, 400 wickets double in international cricket. he is considered one of the best all-rounders in limited overs today. Shakib is also the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in the shortest format, scoring 897 runs in 42 matches witan average of over 24 and a strike rate of 125. Tamim Iqbal is is behind Shakib with 839 runs in 44 matches to his name. Shakib managed to score just 54 runs in four innings in the recently concluded series against Zimbabwe, but he managed to pick up five wickets, which is the highest by a Bangladesh player in the series. Shakib is currently the top ranked all-rounder in International Cricket Council(ICC)’s list for both One-Day Internationals(ODIs) and T20Is and is ranked second in the ICC ranking of Test all-rounders.

Bangladesh had a superb 2015 and had started 2016 with two impressive wins. But Zimbabwe have clawed their way back in the series and will be happy with the way they have ended the series. Zimbabwe have been going through a torrid time of late, having lost the two-match T20I series against associate nation Afghanistan going into this series against Bangladesh.
