Shakib Al Hasan injured his finger during the final tri-series match against Sri Lanka. The series also involved Zimbabwe. He was consequently ruled out of the first Test against Sri Lanka that began on January 31 in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium at Chittagong. However, the new Test captain was found in the stadium cheering his teammates during the first Test. Despite being instructed to not move his left hand, Shakib flew to Chittagong to support Bangladesh.

Following an X-Ray, it was found that Shakib suffered a sprain in the area just under small finger on the left hand. The injury will be accessed in the coming days, following which the management will decide if Shakib would be available for the second Test, as reported by dailystar.net.

As for the match, Mominul Haque’s marathon knock of 176 and Mushfiqur Rahim s 92 took Bangladesh s first innings score to 513 ahead of the tea break on Day 2. Sri Lanka are placed in commanding position after losing an early wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne.
