Shaun Marsh has scored his fourth Test ton in the first session of Day Three of the third Test between Australia and Sri Lanka. Marsh who was not in the team for the first two Tests made a comeback into the side for Joe Burns and made it count with a ton. Sri Lanka scored 355 in the first innings with tons from Dinesh Chadimal and Dhananjaya de Silva but an unbeaten 150+ runs stand between Marsh and skipper, Steven Smith has ensured visitors’ fightback. Marsh also scored a 182 versus West Indies in 2015 but has still not been a regular in his side’s Test team due to stiff competition. Sri Lanka were earlier bowled out for 355, in their first innings, after winning the toss on Day One. Silva scored his maiden Test along with Dinesh Chandimal, who top-scored with 132. The duo put on 211 for the sixth wicket after hosts were reduced to 26 for 5. Their partnership has given Sri Lanka some hope in this match. The bowlers, on the other hand, have not had it as easy as they did in the first two matches of the series. De Silva, who bowls part-time off-spinners did manage to get the wicket of Warner early, but Sri Lanka did not have any luck after that. Full Cricket Updates, Sri Lanka vs Australia, 3rd Test
Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera and Lakshan Sandakan have tried their best to get a breakthrough, but they have failed. They will look to break this partnership before lunch and run through Australia’s lower-middle order as they have been exposed against spin. Marsh, who has an average of over 80 in the subcontinent, also reached to his second Test ton versus Sri Lanka.
