Solomon Mire reached his maiden One-Day International (ODI) fifty off 78 balls in the second ODI played against Bangladesh at Chittagong on Sunday. Regis Chakabva and Solomon Mire keep the scoreboard moving and made sure no more wickets fell. Zimbabwe were 140 for five after 35 overs.

Earlier, Brendan Taylor was the the fourth wicket to fall as he was removed  by Arafat Sunny. Vusi Sibanda and Sikandar Raza were dismissed in quick succession as Zimbabwe were reduced to 43 for three after 10 overs in chase of 252 posted by Bangladesh. The start was pathetic as Zimbabwe lost Hamilton Masakadza only in the first over of the match as he inside edged the ball bowled by Mashrafe Mortaza. Vusi Sibanda who came in at No. 3 belted Mortaza for a big over deep mid-wicket in the third over. Zimbabwe were 23 for one after five overs.

Bangladesh posted a total of 251 for seven in the stipulated 50 overs. Bangladesh got a good start as the openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque registered 158-run opening partnership which was the second-highest opening stand for Bangladesh in ODIs. The middle-order could not capitalize on the start provided by the openers as Bangladesh lost wickets in pairs. But Mominul Haque’s sweet cameo of 33 off 23 balls took Bangladesh to a respectable score.
