South Africa announced an unchanged squad for the remaining two Tests of the ongoing four-match series against England, with AB de Villiers taking over the captaincy following Hashim Amla’s resignation from the position after the second Test. South Africa also announced their squad for the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series that is to follow the Tests. Rilee Rossouw returns to the limited-overs squad following an injury that kept him out of the India tour, with left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso being dropped. South Africa currently trail England 0-1 in the ongoing series, having lost the first Test at Durban by 241 runs, before settling for an exciting draw in the second match at Cape Town. The remaining Tests will be played at Johannesburg and Centurion. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: South Africa vs England 2015-16, 3rd Test at Johannesburg, Day 1
“We were highly encouraged by the performance put up by the Proteas at Newlands. The very fact that they were nearly able to force a win after conceding 600 runs on the first innings speaks volumes for the character of this group of players,” Cricket South Africa (CSA) selection convener Linda Zondi was quoted as saying according to a report on ESPNCricinfo.
