England the worst possible start to fifth and final day at Cape Town losing wicket after wicket. Alastair Cook and Alex Hales who resumed on 8* and 5* respectively had a poor start with Cook losing his wicket in the very second over of the day to Kagiso Rabada. Cook in an attempt to flick gave a catch to Quinton de Kock. Next to go was Alex Hales in the very next over trying to drive gave a brilliant catch to a leaping Chris Morris in the slips. Alex Hales did not add any run to his overnight score. England going into lunch are survived by Ben Stokes 2* and James Taylor 23* at 87 for 4 leading South Africa by 89 runs. Third played to be dismissed in the morning was Joe Root who had earlier survived a catch in the slips off Morne Morkel citing a no-ball. Morris into his first over of the day cleaned up Root with an incoming delivery hitting uprooting the stumps. Root had made run-a-ball 29. Compton and Taylor had added 30 run partnership to provide much needed calmness to the England innings.James Taylor was lucky to survive a catch while sweeping Dane Piedt as Rabada could not retain the ball in the hands as he hit the ground. Dane Piedt got into wicket taker column as he was able to get Nick Compton play a rash shot into the hand off short mid-on player Faf du Plessis. Compton made a valiant 15 runs of 60 balls. South Africa bowler would feel lucky to have gotten an over clouded conditions to bowl as the first four days had not a single iota of cloud. England have lost four wickets in the 26 overs adding 71 runs.
