Greetings! Welkom to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day Five of the ongoing second Test between South Africa and England at the Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday. This is Vishal Mehra, and I shall update you with the events of the game at regular updates for the final day of the second game of the four-Test series. South Africa managed to give England a fitting reply with the bat on the fourth day with a declaration at 627/7 decl. leaving England a lead of just two runs. The day how ever belonged to skipper Hashim Amla and Temba Bavuma, Amla scored a brilliant 201 before Stuart Broad cleaned him up. Bavuma on the other hand became the first ever black to score a ton for South Africa. Going at Stumps England had Alastair Cook and Alex Hales in the middle at the score of 16 for 0, leading by 18 runs. Dean Elgar and Dane Piedt are bowling from both the ends because the light is not as good for a fast bowler to come into bowl. Umpire have decided to take light and leave the field for now.

Baristow was lucky to survive a close call who was stumped by Quiton de Kock just managed to bring his boot inside the crease.Dane Piedt picked up the dangerous Ben Stokes, who had scored a blistering 258 in the first inning. In an attempt to hit Piedt for a consecutive boundary he ended up giving a catch to Morne Morkel situated in the deep. Stoke went for a 34 ball 26. Piedt stuck again as James Taylor managed to find a very faint edge and lob the ball to Temba Bavuma in short-leg. England lead South Africa by 157 with one session of play remaining in the Test. After a disastrous start to the session they have batted well keep South Africa bowlers at bay. Ali and Bairstow have managed a partnership of 26* runs. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England 100/4 in 36 over | Lead by 102 | Batting: James Taylor 26(61), Ben Stokes 11(18) : Ben Stokes and James Taylor manage to take the England lead past 100. England will need more than 250 to feel secure before South Africa can be able to bat first. Morne Morkel and Chris Morris have bowled a very probing line to both the batsmen.
LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England 90/4 in 32 over | Lead by 92 | Batting: James Taylor 23(53), Ben Stokes 3(3) : Ben Stokes and James Taylor will look to revive England from such a bad slump. This morning has been all about South African bowlers wrecking havoc on the English batsmen. England lost as many as four wickets in the earlier session adding 71 runs. South Africa will need to keep England below 150 if they have any chances of winning the Test.

Alastair Cook and Alex Hales had safely negotiated the final 7 overs on Day 4 making 16 runs together. Earlier on Day 4 Temba Bavuma scored his first ever Test ton and Chris Morris achieved his first ever Test half century in the process as Hashim Amla declared at 627 for 7 with England having a 2 runs lead. Hashim Amla also got to his fourth double ton in 461 balls.

DAY 3 Report : HERE
Hashim Amla hit a double century but it was Temba Bavuma who lit up Cape Town with a maiden Test ton as South Africa batted their way to safety on the fourth day of the second Test against England. Bavuma, became the first black African batsman to play Test cricket for South Africa, struck 16 fours in a superb exhibition of classical batting as South Africa made 627 for seven before declaring two runs short of England total of 629 for six declared.The innings featured three partnerships of more than 150.Bavuma and debutante Chris Morris came together with 167 run stand for sixth wicket.
Morris also brought up his first ever Test half-century in his debut Test. Stuart Broad and James Anderson struck three times with the third new ball in a session to show something for the bowlers as well.
