Australia take on South Africa in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) at Johannesburg on Sunday. Having lost the opening T20I, Australia will aim to make a comeback in the second match to ensure they stay alive in the three-match T20I series. Australia won the toss and had elected to bat first in the opening match but failed to take advantage of it as they were restricted at 157 for 9 in 20 overs. In reply, South Africa chased down the total with four balls to spare, with David Miller finishing off for them with his unbeaten 53 runs off 35 balls. Former Australian T20I skipper, Aaron Finch did give a good start to his before falling to Imran Tahir in the 8th over, leaving Australia at 71 for 3. His dismissal was followed by a collapse, with David Warner, Steven Smith and Glenn Maxwell walking back to the pavilion in quick succession. It was all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh who had then taken charge of Australia’s flow of runs. He scored a quick 25-ball 35 and that knock ensured Australia reached a decent total of 150-plus total.
Australia are without the services of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood and in their absence it was Nathan Coulter-Nile who led their pace attack. He picked three wickets that included the dismissal of South Africa openers AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock and Chris Morris. The other wickets were shared between Andrew Tye and Mitchell Marsh. If Australia want to square the series with a win on Sunday, Coulter-Nile has to carry the same momentum and more importantly, the batsmen cannot just throw away their wickets.
