South Africa vs West Indies, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Pool B match at Sydney: SA 30/1 after 10 overs

South Africa were off to a slow start, gathering 30 runs off the first 10 overs for the loss of one wicket during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Pool B match against West Indies at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday. Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis were batting on nine and six off 25 and  16 balls respectively. Quinton de Kock was the dismissal during the South African innings, when he was caught at point by Andre Russell off the bowling of Jason Holder. South Africa earlier won the toss and skipper AB de Villiers elected to bat, with the thought of utilising what he described as “perfect batting conditions” for his side’s batsmen to put up a big total on the board and put the West Indians under pressure early in their innings. West Indies skipper Jason Holder named one change, with Suleiman Benn coming in place of Nikita Miller. South Africa decided to go for three changes, with Rilee Rossouw, Farhaan Behardien and Kyle Abbott coming in place of JP Duminy, Wayne Parnell and Vernon Philander. South Africa and West Indies have faced off five times in World Cup matches till date, with South Africa winning three and losing two. The first time the two faced off in cricket’s biggest event was in the 1992 edition, that was also hosted by Australia and New Zealand. South Africa beat West Indies by 64 runs at Lancaster Park in Christchurch. In their last World Cup meeting, the Proteas beat the Windies by seven wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, with current skipper AB de Villiers scoring an unbeaten 107.
