South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first against Sri Lanka in the first Twenty20 match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The visitors have much to prove in this T20 series after having been thoroughly outplayed in the five-match ODI series. The Twenty20 outfit under Du Plessis will look to do better in the shortest format of the game.
As for the home side, they will look to take the winning mentality into the three-match T20 series and emerge victorious again.
Sri Lanka will be without ace batsman Mahela Jayawardene. They have named both their mystery spinners Ajantha Mendis and Sachitra Senanayake in the side.
South Africa have handed a debut to David Wiese. They will field three pacers in Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell and Lonwabo Tsotsobe. Imran Tahir also finds a spot in the playing XI.

South Africa: Quinton de Kock(wk), Henry Davids, Faf du Plessis(c), AB de Villiers, Jean-Paul Duminy, David Miller, David Wiese, Wayne Parnell, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir, Lonwabo Tsotsobe
