Sri Lanka all-rounder Ramith Rambukwella arrested after car accident

Rambukwella was driving the car, which went on to hit the wall, in the early hours of the day.

Sri Lanka‘s all-rounder Ramith Rambukwella was on Thursday, arrested after a car accident in Colombo. Rambukwella was driving the car, which went on to hit the wall, in the early hours of the day. Although, no one was hurt in the accident. He is expected to appear in the court in the next 48 hours. The 25-year-old, made his T20 International debut against New Zealand at Pallekele in November 2013. He is an opening batsman, who can bowl off-spin as well. Rambukwella was recalled to the T20I squad to play against England in 2016. He has 46 runs from the two T20Is and one wicket as well.

He was also involved in a bizarre incident in July 2013, when playing for Sri Lanka A. Rambukwella was then fined for causing mild panic on a flight while attempting to open the cabin door of the aircraft, at 35,000 feet. He has had other disciplinary problems as well, which go back to the time he play in the Under-19 team. Only recently, seamer Nuwan Kulasekara was arrested in Sri Lanka after being involved in a road accident, that killed a 28-year-old person. Usually, arrests are done over major crime, and such can well be the case with Kulasekara. Previously, many cricketers have been involved in road accidents, and there have also been numerous of them, who have been arrested for rash driving, along with drunk driving, as the detailed report of the accident is awaited, along with condolences for the deceased.
