Vernon Philander was ruled out due to injury. He is replaced by the young, Marchant de Lange. On the other hand, Sri Lanka have handed a Test debut to Dinesh Chandimal who replaces Kaushal Silva.
South Africa lead the series 1-0 after beating the tourists by an innings and 81 runs in the first Test at Centurion.
