Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bowl first against Bangladesh in the first One-Day International match at Hambantota on Saturday.
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh in the recently concluded two-match Test series 1-0.
Bangladesh will seek inspiration from their Asia Cup victory over Sri Lanka when they open a three-match One-day series.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s Bangladeshis proved they were capable of surprising big teams in the shorter format of the game when they beat World Cup finalists India and Sri Lanka on their way to the Asia Cup final in Dhaka last year.
