Steven Smith‘s first assignment as full time Australia captain will be their tour of Bangladesh. Smith understands the challenges that the current Bangladesh side pose at home is immense, especially given the flurry of retirements Australia have witnessed in the preceding Ashes 2015 series. According to the young leader, the key to success for a new-look Australian side will be to quickly adapt. The task to adapt will be particularly difficult for those who are yet to play in sub-continent conditions. ALSO READ: Steven Smith asserts Bangladesh series will be no ‘trial’ round

“We want to improve the way we play away from home and this is our first chance to do that, the conditions can be quite foreign to what we’re used to in Australia so the guys will have to adapt right away,” Smith was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. Smith further added that Australia need to “have plans in place to make sure they’re doing everything they can to make sure they have success over there (in Bangladesh). We’ve got a bit of a clean slate with a lot of guys coming in and it’s a really exciting time for Australian cricket,” Smith concluded.
