England all-rounder Stuart Broad on Monday hit back at Sir Ian Botham, saying some former cricketers must look at their own record before criticising others.

“And before u listen to too many ex playing ‘experts’ being negative, ask them if they ever won a Test series in India….#28years,” Broad wrote on Twitter, after England were pummelled by nine wickets at Motera in the first Test.

Broad added: “India outplayed us. A few positives but on the whole poor so sorry for that. Onwards and upwards.”

According to the Daily Telegraph, Botham had questioned England s team selection for the opening Test, saying the English dressing room had become “too matey, matey”.

Botham had earlier said that all-rounder Broad should be left out as one of four changes to the side for the second Test, which begins on Friday, November 23.
