Sri Lanka suffered another blow ahead of the South Africa tour when pacer Suranga Lakmal was ruled out of action due to an ankle injury on Wednesday.

Lakmal has joined Shaminda Eranga, Nuwan Kulasekara and Dhammika Prasad in the list of injured Sri Lanka pacers, who were not included in the squad for South Africa tour.

Sri Lanka chairman of selectors Duleep Mendis said they are hoping one of the injured fast bowlers to getfit before the end of first Test, i.e. on December 19, according to reports.

“We are hopeful that by the time the first Test ends at Centurion on December 19, one of the inured fast bowlers would be fit to fly to South Africa and replace Lakmal,” Mendis said.

Sri Lanka will play three Tests and five ODIs on the South Africa tour starting December 15.
