Star Indian batsman Suresh Raina is all set to lead Uttar Pradesh (UP) in the Central Zone leg of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16. The tournament will commence from December 10 and UP will play their first game against Himachal Pradesh at Rajkot. Suresh Raina also captained the Uttar Pradesh Ranji team recently as the team completed their run being at number 5 position in Group B. Raina took over the captaincy from Eklavya Dwivedi in their third match and guided UP to draw the rest of the matches. He played a brilliant knock of 145 not out against Tamil Nadu in the second innings and is expected to play like that in the one-day contest coming up. In the previous season of Vijay Hazare Trophy, UP had finished in the third position from Central Zone. They won two of their four matches which earned them 8 points. The team this year would surely like to top the table with Suresh Raina as their captain. Raina is a regular member of the Indian One-Day International (ODI) team and has last represented the nation in the ODI series against South Africa. He has been fighting with his form for a long time now and hopefully the domestic season will help him improve.
