Chennai Super Kings are the current table toppers in Vivo IPL 2018 having won both their games so far. However, this season they have had many players ruled out due to injury. It started with Mitchell Santner before the tournament, then Kedar Jadhav after the first game and now Suresh Raina. Thankfully for them Raina will only miss the next two matches against Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals.

Raina sustained a calf-injury during the second innings of match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It was in the 10th over when he needed medical assistant and was seen struggling then after. He eventually got out scoring 14 off 12.

However, Faf du Plessis who is recovering from finger injury might be available for the April 15 game against Punjab. Murli Vijay who missed the opening game against Mumbai Indians as he was hit in the ribs during the practice session prior to the match. He was available for the match against Kolkata. He might get a chance in the next game and open the innings with Shane Watson. Ambati Rayudu might be pushed to the middle order.

Dhruv Shorey, Kshitiz Sharma and N Jagadeesan are the uncapped Indian batsmen in the squad who might even get a chance. Jadhav’s replacement David Willey“hasn’t joined the squad as his visa process is not complete yet,” a CSK official told ESPNcricinfo. “He will not be available for the Mohali match but could be expected to be available for the Rajasthan match.”
